My wife and I were finally able to breathe some fresh air at Vivanta by Taj, Whitefield, Bengaluru from the hustles and bustles of our day-to-day lives post the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic period was so much stressful to us that we could not even think of going anywhere for relaxing our minds. However, once the Omicron saga ended, we finally decided to spend some quality time by visiting Vivanta Whitefield, which is located very close to ITPL.
We decided not to travel far and were looking for hotels for a short stay of 2 nights. After extensive research, we finally decided to book Vivanta Whitefield from booking.com as the rates were quite reasonable for a 2-night stay. We booked a Superior Room City View along with complementary breakfast without any pre-payment.
Trip to Vivanta by Taj Whitefield
Finally, the day arrived and we were on our way to the hotel. It was the month of April 2021. I went there with my own vehicle. They have a valet parking. So, I didn’t need to worry about parking my car. The hotel check-in time starts at 2 pm and we reached there by 3.30 pm. The receptionists were quite polite and our on-boarding process was quite smooth. They guided us to the room which was in the 3rd floor. Now the drama unfolded!
I didn’t have a great feeling the moment I entered the room. The room was no where close to the standard of a 5 star hotel room. Some of the floor tiles were broken. Few of the switches were dirty. We were unable to increase the temperature of the air conditioner! Did you ever face anything like that in a 5 star hotel? It’s truly unimaginable.
Well, the story did not end there. Let me shed some more light on the other problems we faced. We ordered some snacks for in-room dining during the evening time. We were told those would be delivered in 40 minutes. I was watching TV and it was well past 40 minutes but the order did not arrive. We were just waiting patiently and the order finally arrived after 1 hour almost. The food was average but we finished it as we were hungry.
At around 7 pm, we went down to take a look at the hotel premises. Vivanta has 2 restaurants- the Mynt and Teracotta. The Mynt serves North Indian, Fast Food, Mexican, Italian, Thai whereas the Teracotta serves mainly North Indian cuisines. There is a lawn area and adjacent to the lawn area, there is a swimming pool which is quite large. The view of the swimming pool was quite spectacular. We spent some time there beside the pool and had few photos clicked.
Few moments later, we proceeded towards dinner at the Mynt and the dinner was decent with lots of options. We walked around the premises after the dinner and finally got back to the room. A pathetic incident at around 2 am in the morning led us to switch our room. Let me explain the incident here.
We were sleeping peacefully until we heard a man from one adjacent room taking office calls in the middle of the night. Not sure if his door was open or not but we were able to hear him clearly. This really jeopardised our sleep and at the middle of the night, we had to complain to the reception. They were ready to change our room and finally we got an upgraded room which was much better than the older one. We slept the remaining night in that room and was able to compensate our disturbed sleep a bit. So, at least I want to thank the staff for agreeing to shift us to another room. I would say they were very prompt in helping and guiding us to get to another room which was also in the same floor.
Next day, I went for swimming. The pool was quite big and I was searching for my breath as I was trying to swim from one side to another side. It was after a long time I went for swimming that too in such a large pool. Hence, I got tired soon and had to end the swimming. My wife was a spectator there as I couldn’t convince her to get down at the pool.
The 2nd day was quite smooth without any major challenges. The hotel’s supervisor apologised for the inconvenience that was caused to us and he also took us to a floor where renovation work was going on. The renovated rooms were really beautiful and I believe those would have opened by now as I am writing the review almost after a year. The supervisor also offered us a complementary coffee because of our bad experience.
That’s why people like to visit the top hotels. They are willing to make up for any inconvenience that is being caused to the customers. One other thing to note is that those inconveniences remain in our memory for a longer time. If things go smooth all the time, how would we be able to remember those memories few years down the line? When we look back at those experiences, we don’t feel angry or irritated rather we cherish those memories.
Conclusion
Overall, except for the first day hiccup, I would say that Vivanta by Taj is apt for a short stay, specially if you visit the city for business reasons. All the necessary amenities are there and the food is decent enough. For just a vacation, it may not be worthwhile to stay there.
How did Vivanta by Taj treat you? Do share your experiences if you stayed there or even had a lunch or dinner over there.
