How to overcome failure and bounce back?

Failure is a part and parcel of everyone’s journey. Do you know all the successful people in this world failed multiple times? If you don’t fail, you can never achieve your dream. Any idea why am I saying this? To know the answer, you would first need to understand why people fail.

Failures often happen when you are trying to execute a plan the way you wanted but the end result turned out to be different than what you expected. Even though you failed, you must have learned something out of it and you are not going to repeat that again for sure. Do you think you could have got that learning if you had not tried in the first place? Failure always makes you learn and through continuous learning, you can definitely achieve your dream.

Now, there are instances when people lose faith in themselves or in the process when they fail. They never try to apply themselves again as they got disheartened. However, that is not the correct approach. Let us understand below how people can overcome failures and get themselves back on track.

1. Envision your dream

If you FAIL, never give up because F.A.I.L. means “First Attempt in Learning”. END is not the end; in fact E.N.D. means “Effort Never Dies”. If you get NO as an answer, remember N.O. means “Next Opportunity”.

Abdul Kalam. (n.d.). AZQuotes.com. Retrieved April 04, 2021, from AZQuotes.com Web site: https://www.azquotes.com/quote/1303354

The above quote is from the great Abdul Kalam. Think of the day when you will achieve your dream. Won’t it feel amazing? Then why lose heart now? Just don’t give up. As Abdul Kalam says the word ‘FAIL’ stands for First Attempt in Learning, so think that it was just one of your attempts. Who knows you can be successful in the second attempt correct? Even if it takes multiple attempts, always give your best and never give up.

2. Don’t pressurize yourself

If you put too much pressure on yourself because of your failed attempt, it can take a toll on your body. Do not think too much about the failed attempt. I know it’s not easy but you can definitely try. Sometimes, all it needs is a break. Try to take time out of your busy schedule and find time for relaxation. Go for a road trip or vacation which will help you to relieve the stress. Sometimes when you are in a free mind, thought can suddenly appear on what you would need to do next time to make the next attempt work. This has happened to me a number of times and I am sure it happened to others as well.

3. Analyze your failures

It is important to analyze your failures so that you do not make those same mistakes next time. For example, if you are preparing for your annual exam and you could not do well in the first mock test, make sure you take out some of your time to understand the mistakes you did. Analyzing consistently for your failed attempts will make you confident and you can definitely perform better next time you appear for another mock exam.

4. Get motivation from legends

If you are a follower of cricket, I think you would be knowing the comeback of Sourav Ganguly in the India National team after he was removed from captaincy and got dropped from the ODI and Test team. Sourav could have easily given up as he already had an illustrious career but the Bengal Tiger did not give up. He practiced hard and made his comeback in both Test and ODI formats. After his comeback, he scored a double century in a Test match as well. Since Ganguly did not lose hope and he had the will and determination to play for the country again, that made him work harder and come back stronger.

You can take inspiration from a number of similar stories of other legends like Sourav. Failures happen in life. However, if you believe in yourself, you can come back with a vengeance.

Conclusion

I would reiterate here that in order to succeed, people will fail and that is how they will learn from those failures and will eventually be successful.

I am concluding with this famous proverb “Failures are the pillars of success”. I am sure this proverb will definitely help you to understand the importance of failures in your success. All the best!
